Before You Rattle On

Here are some quick and easy tips to make sure that people do not purposely run away from their phone when they see that you are calling:

01.Always check with them whether it is a convenient time to talk by sending a message before hand and indicating what you wish to talk about
02.Ask the person as s/he answers whether it is a suitable time to have a chat
03.As a practice, do not keep rambling for hours unless you know with certainty that the person thoroughly enjoys talking about this topic
04.Avoid all the unnecessary details
05.Don’t make them feel small for missing a call previously
06.Avoid trying to probe into that person’s life during the call

I grew up in an era where landlines were still commonly used and calls using mobile phones though expensive were a part of day to day life. Either way, three cheers to telephones of all types and the ability to speak to people who are near and dear! Here is to happy and useful calls always…!
