Let me start off by confessing that I am terribly guilty of road rage – yes, my etiquette goes out of the window. I have no time or patience with road hogs, those who think they own the road, meaningless horn tooting, people who only need to get to their destination day after tomorrow and peeps who drive as though they are taxiing an aircraft on the centre line.
There is a long list of road offenses that the cops do not address which I would like to personally walk up to road users and inform them of, but then there are some restraining factors like the possibility of getting kicked out of the house that prevent me from doing these supposedly rash deeds – if you ask me, they are for the betterment of society and should be done by someone. Anyway, since I am yet to get the greenlight to go ahead disciplining these drivers on the road, I will do what I can for now.
Full of Etiquette started the year with a reminder to be a better stranger and the man or woman in the other car is a good stranger to begin with.
I am completely blown over by peeps who don’t know that they are a nuisance to others while they drive. How can they be deaf to all the horns that are blaring with ample reason behind them? How do they not know that all the space in front of them could be used by others who are trying to go places and get things done?
Look around you to see whether other vehicles seem to be in a hurry – if so are you blocking a lane? If you cannot hurry up, move to the side of the road and let the others pass.
Does your vehicle occupy two lanes or one? Stay well within the lane so that others can pass you by in their lanes without an issue.
If you want music, please use Spotify or just sing to yourself – don’t drum on the steering wheel while tooting the horn. It ain’t music to the ears of others.
Do other people need to get off the road just so that you can go places? Well, unfortunately, you are not as cool as you think and no one is obliged to move for you to pass.
The image was taken while the vehicle was in motion when I was in the passenger’s seat. If you want to admire the scenery and you are the driver, please pull over and don’t take up lane space while you drive at 5kmph.
Enjoy the Miles!
P.S.: The image is free of edits and was captured from a mobile phone by the author.

And if you have trouble multitasking, pull over on to the side of the road – WHERE THERE IS AMPLE PARKING SPACE AND YOU ARE NOT TAKING UP A LANE OF TRAFFIC – and answer your call.
Don’t drive recklessly with your head in the clouds while you’re on the phone. Haven’t you heard that it’s illegal?LikeLike
