If the notion of being a nice stranger seems strange – please read on.
Has someone picked up something you dropped at the store? Has someone helped you manoeuvre your vehicle out of a tricky spot? Has someone let you take his or her spot in a queue? Has someone tried to cheer up your baby who was crying in your arms? Has someone cheered you on while you did a rigorous exercise schedule at the park? Have you been cautioned of a possible peril while walking on the road? Has someone offered you their seat in the bus?
If you said yes, to any one of these, you have been at the receiving end of the kindness of a stranger.
On to more serious stuff – has someone jumped into a river to save you from drowning? Has someone reached out and let you grab their hand to steady yourself? Has someone returned the wallet you forgot on the train?
If you said yes to any of the serious stuff, you ought to be very thankful indeed!
If all of us are more conscious of our surroundings, bother ourselves to do good deeds to others for no apparent reason and find the kindness in our heart, we would all be better strangers and the world would be a more delightful place to live in.
Cheers to a delightful 2024 where we all become better strangers!
