Since 2019, the number of times we HAVE to wash our hands has gone up exponentially; but our habits associated with hand washing don’t seem to have improved at all. At the supermarket, a hotel, your office, the bank and pretty much everywhere you go, here is what some of us do to mess up the simplest task of washing our hands.
Clearly, the first issue is that we forget about washing our hands before entering certain establishments. Technically, this is illegal in most parts of the world now; so in my sister’s words ‘you would be on the run from the law’.
The next issue is that some people want Mars to know that they are washing their hands with soap and make such a ruckus. The soapy slathering and vigorous movements are unnecessary, your washing of hands need not be audible.
Some of us like to steal in without using soap. We think that having just a smack of water on our hands allows us to pronounce ourselves to have washed our hands. The germs are said to last unless washed off with soap – so don’t be lazy to lather your palms, fingers and the outside of your hands.
Once your done washing your hands, directly hold them under a hand dryer. If such a unit is not available, allow your fingers to drip into the sink and NOT on to the floor. Worst still, please do NOT rub them on either side of your pants as the purpose of washing them in these new normal era would be completely lost. Most people do this absent mindedly; make good etiquette habitual like we prescribe at Full of Etiquette and start training yourself to dry your hands in one of the correct ways.
