Sub Section 01: Being Polite – Saying Hello

There was a time you eagerly watched near a window and hoped that someone would visit you with ice cream, cake or some other goodies, right? As you grew older and became more attached to your mobile phone, did you start locking yourself up in your bedroom throughout the day? Well, this sounds like many young ladies and gentlemen who need to do a small change to this practice.

Here is a simple, harmless and effective way of not becoming unpopular as the ‘girl/boy who never turns up and locks his/herself in the bedroom’.

When someone visits, go to the sitting room and say ‘Hello’! Even if this is not someone you know well, there is no harm in saying Hello and asking them how they are. If it is a relation or a close family friend, please spend a bit of time talking to them, serving them food and drink and making sure that they are comfortable.

If you are really busy or you need to get away, please excuse yourself from the group. Please give them a valid reason such as an online class, home work that is incomplete or an exam that you have to study for. Anyone would understand and not misunderstand these sorts of commitments. Please do NOT walk away without telling your visitor that you need to be away.

Please remember, your visitor has called over at your house to see all of you and you are an important member of the household. Coming out, saying hello and showing you care is polite and shows that you are well mannered.

At a loss for words when it comes to your visitors? Sounds like a common problem, but we can help you. Write to us at fullofetiquette@gmail.com if you would like to discuss this. Await more on how you can win over your visitors and how you can ace visits too!
